Recently, I was invited down to the beautiful and sunny Mayan Riviera to photograph a vacation rental property in Puerto Morelos Mexico.
Naturally, I took my stylist and gal pal, Kristina, along for the quick job…
Here is how I photographed the AirBnb rental and a few fun things we saw while in Mexico on our working beach holiday.

About the Airbnb Rental:
The owners have rented out “La Palapa” for nearly 20 years and were wanting to up the game with regards to the photos of the home for a new listing on AirBnB.
I’ve actually been to La Palapa over the years and it has been such a treat to watch it change. It’s my home away from home.
The first time I visited was just after college when I went for a week with a friend. Tulum, Puerto Morelos and the rest of the Mayan Riviera has changed SO much in that time.
Sprawling resorts have spread down the coast from Cancun and ruined the quiet peace of this once off-the-beaten path beach town.
La Palapa is an oasis and hideaway from all the hustle and bustle of the busy vacation resorts.
Our goal was to have a complete set of quality professional photos of the property to showcase “La Palapa” in all of its glory, including the brand new pool!

Puerto Morelos is a small village just south of Cancun, with all of the amenities of a beach vacation… and is just a short 20 minute drive from the airport.
In the quaint town, you will find guides for snorkeling, scuba diving, tours to Tulum, fish tacos, an artist village for local souvenirs, and so much more.

During a very busy Fall wedding season, I hopped a plane using credit card reward points and brought my trusty assistant/stylist along for the journey.
We landed around midday and immediately began photographing the beautiful two story home rental, beginning with the second floor.

Once the second floor was settled, we hid our bags up there and I continued to photograph the ground floor, with its stucco walls and unique fine art decor.
Nora prepared lunch and Kristina helped gather plants from the garden to add a pop of color and life to each room.
As each room was settled, we called out “Hot Set!” so I could photograph the Airbnb rental property in peace.

On the second day, I finished photographing the first floor and then focused my camera on the exterior of the property.
Between a stunning new pool and outdoor grill, we set the stage with a beautiful sunset dinner outside with grilled salmon, veggies and margaritas.
